Dr. Ūla Marija Tornau has been appointed the Cultural Attaché in the Diplomatic Mission of the Republic of Lithuania in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

According to Ms Tornau, she has started working in the UK at the beginning of the strictest quarantine, so it will be necessary to find the widest possible range of forms and formats of communication. "In this situation, first of all, I hope to find ways and channels for interesting communication of already created content, its excellent and easy retransmission in all areas of Lithuanian culture, i.e. in the contemporary art, music, dance and jazz, which were produced abundantly last year. It is very important that this high-quality and already created content reaches the widest possible audience. One of my goals would also be to include academic institutions in the UK in the production and dissemination of Lithuanian culture, to establish links between cultural organisations related to cultural education, internships and training".

Ms Tornau gained Master's degree in History at Utrecht University and the Central European University in 2016. She has acquired a PhD degree in Art at the Vilnius Academy of Arts. Since 2007 she has been working at the Centre for Contemporary Art.

The term of office of the Cultural Attaché is three years.
