Historical and Cultural Memory
In participating in the implementation of state policy in the field of perpetuating historical and cultural memory and encouraging the conscious development of cultural identity among citizens of the Republic of Lithuania, as well as in fostering respect for the state, its history, national culture, Lithuanian philological traditions and heritage, developing the synergy of different areas, and nurturing creativity:
- we participate in the organisation of programmes to commemorate state holidays, days of remembrance, historical dates, and anniversaries of personalitieswho have contributed to the history and culture of the Lithuanian state, as well as in the coordination of their implementation;
- we organise the work of the commissions for the Ministry of Culture’s Carry Your Light and Believe and Patron of the Year medals of honour;
- we implement measures to perpetuate the signatories of the Act of Independence of Lithuania;
- we coordinate the award and presentation of Government Culture and Art Prizes;
- we implement projects to perpetuate Lithuanian philological traditions and heritage;
- we participate in the work of commissions formed by the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and the Government of the Republic of Lithuania.
Activities are carried out in implementing the resolutions of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and orders of the Government of the Republic of Lithuania, and taking the recommendations of the commissions into account.
Programme financing is carried out with funds from the budget of the Ministry of Culture in accordance with approved co-financing rules and through public procurement.
Competitions are held for project funding from the Lithuanian Council for Culture under the ‘Projects for Civic, National and Lithuanian Philological Development and Memory Perpetuation’ programme; further information is available at www.ltkt.lt
