Tomas Ivanauskas begins work as cultural attaché in Ukraine
Today, Tomas Ivanauskas begins to perform his duties as cultural attaché at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to Ukraine as well as to perform the cultural attaché’s functions in Sakartvelo (Georgia).
Ivanauskas won the competitive selection process for these duties at the end of March. From 2019 to 2022, he served as the cultural attaché at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to the People’s Republic of China and at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of Korea.
Ivanauskas earned a master’s degree at the Vilnius Academy of Arts. He has led the Lithuanian Foundation for Support of Visual Artists, has managed music groups as well as music and film festivals, and has worked as a concert organiser, director’s assistant and literature section head at the Oskaras Koršunovas Theatre.
A cultural attaché is a specialised attaché, serving at an embassy or consulate of the Republic of Lithuania and working to improve international cooperation in the area of responsibility delegated to the Minister of Culture. A cultural attaché is directly subordinate to the Minister of Culture and to the head of the embassy or consular office.
The length of the period of service of a cultural attaché is three years.
