Representatives of Ministry of Culture attend session of UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee

The 15th online session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee of the 2005 Convention for the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions was started yesterday.

During the session, the committee will discuss affairs related to the convention’s implementation, the periodical reports on the convention’s implementation presented by the member states, the activities of the International Fund for Cultural Diversity and the funded projects as well as other initiatives of the convention’s implementation.

This session of the Intergovernmental Committee is attended by representatives of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania and the Secretariat of the Lithuanian National Commission for UNESCO.

The speech by the Lithuanian delegation, which evaluated the UNESCO secretariat’s activities in 2021, emphasised the importance of the secretariat’s activities dedicated to the improvement of abilities, the monitoring of the convention’s implementation, and communication initiatives. Lithuania also periodically makes voluntary contributions to the convention’s fund, whose funds are allocated to projects of developing countries. In the autumn of 2022, Mexico will organise the global cultural policy forum Mondiocult.

During the session, the third UNESCO global report on cultural policy, Re|Shaping Policies for Creativity, was introduced, which reviews the issues of the cultural sector.
