Minister of Culture Simonas Kairys met with His Excellency Konstanty Radziwiłł, who in April began to serve as the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland in Lithuania.

During the meeting, the active cooperation of Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine in the Lublin Triangle format was discussed. The strategic importance of Ukraine’s accession to the European Union and regional cooperation in international organisations, such as UNESCO, were highlighted. The Ambassador of Poland emphasised that various regional initiatives and mechanisms enrich Europe’s narrative and cultural diversity.

Minister Kairys informed Ambassador Radziwiłł about the Media Support Fund that is in the process of being established. Its objectives include strengthening media operating in the languages of ethnic minorities and combatting disinformation.

The Ambassador of Poland expressed his gratitude for the support given the Polish Institute in Vilnius for its activities throughout Lithuania, implementing a variety of projects. Minister Kairys expects that the number of such projects will only increase, particularly with the Season of Lithuania in France, planned for 2024, and the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of M.K. Čiurlionis, which will be held in 2025.

The Minister and the Ambassador expressed their satisfaction with the especially active cooperation between Lithuanian and Polish cultural organisations as well as the large number of joint exhibitions, including the exhibition Vilnius-Wilno-Vilne 1918–1948. One city – many stories, currently on display at the National Museum in Kraków, and the exhibition The Tapestries of Sigismund Augustus in Vilnius, currently on display at the National Museum – Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania.
