Competition for the position of the Cultural Attaché in France has been won by Austė Zdančiūtė for another term

The Ministry of Culture’s competition for the position of the Cultural Attaché in France has been won by the current Cultural Attaché Austė Zdančiūtė. Of the three competitors who participated in the competition, she received the largest amount of the commission’s points.

Zdančiūtė has been working as the Cultural Attaché in France since 2018. Before, she spent many years working on cinema projects. She was the project manager and coordinator at Meno Avilys, also the programme creator and coordinator of the documentary film festival Nepatogus Kinas. Zdančiūtė has acquired a master’s degree in management at Vilnius Academy of Arts. She also graduated from Vilnius University and earned a vocational bachelor’s degree in publishing at Paris Descartes University.

“Over the next three years, I will aim to initiate and solidify the continuous exchange programmes of individual culture operators and creators. In my opinion, it is very meaningful to develop cooperation among institutions that conduct residency activities. We already have good examples of the networking of Lithuanian creators via art residencies. However, a lot still has to be done for the sake of longevity. For the presentation of Lithuania’s culture in France, a relevant direction is the performing arts: theatre, dance, performance art, interdisciplinary work. Currently, there is a sense of more active openness towards international relations in this field in France, especially in the development of activities in the regions, therefore, now is a good time to make use of this opportunity”, Zdančiūtė said.

The competitor who won the competition may start or continue working in the position after receiving the security clearance issued in accordance with the law and after approval by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania. The duration of the term of the Cultural Attaché is three years.
