Lithuanian, Ukrainian and Polish Ministers of Culture sign declaration on trilateral co-operation of Lublin Triangle
At today's online meeting, Lithuanian Minister of Culture Simonas Kairys, Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko and Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture and National Heritage Piotr Gliński signed the declaration of intent on trilateral cooperation in the Lublin Triangle format. Ministers of the three countries planned to sign the declaration in Kiev last week, but were not able to meet due to the Russian military aggression.
Addressing the Polish and Ukrainian Ministers of Culture, Kairys said that in such difficult circumstances, it is especially important to continue planning for the future and promote joint cultural projects. "We have already met three times with the Minister of Culture of Ukraine O. Tkachenko, and we are in permanent contact during this ongoing nightmare. In this fight, we are all together with Ukraine. The fact that we look to the future together, plan joint initiatives for young people, think about joint projects is also part of our strength” said S. Kairys.
This declaration recognizes the Russian Federation as an aggressor country waging an open war against Ukraine and condemns the actions of the Russian Federation that threaten the cultural heritage of Ukraine.
The signatories of the Declaration will work together to suspend the Russian Federation from international organizations, committees, and programmes in the fields of culture and information policy, including UNESCO.
Lithuania, Ukraine and Poland will put joint effort to promote common cultural heritage and history, to foster cooperation between cultural institutions and experts, and provide more opportunities for young culture professionals.
