Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the EU: First Half of 2027
In the field of culture, the Presidency will seek progress on legislative files and underline the role of culture in strengthening the resilience of societies by upholding democratic values, strengthening civic awareness, empowering communities, and highlighting the contribution of cultural and creative sectors to EU competitiveness.
The Ministry of Culture will be responsible for work in three Council preparatory bodies:
- Cultural Affairs Committee (Chair: Vida Gražienė, Cultural Attaché of the Republic of Lithuania to the Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the EU)
- Audiovisual and Media Working Party (Chair: Rasa Zdanevičiūtė, Audiovisual Affairs Attaché of the Republic of Lithuania to the Permanent Representation of Lithuania to the EU)
- Working Party on Intellectual Property (Copyright) (Chair: Živilė Plyčiuraitytė Plyčiūtė, Adviser at the Public Information and Copyright Policy Group)
The Ministry of Culture will also be responsible for coordinating EU positions and representing the EU on copyright matters in two committees of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
