Minister of Culture Simonas Kairys expresses his condolences on the death of composer and recipient of the Lithuanian National Prize for Culture and Arts, Professor Bronius Kutavičius.

The Minister of Culture Simonas Kairys attended an event in Kaunas today during which the programme of Kaunas 2022 and other cities that will become the European capitals of culture next year – Esch-sur-Alzette and Novi Sad – was announced.

On 27 September, the Annual Forum of the European Union’s Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region will start and continue for almost a week. The main subject which will unite its discussions and other events is green recovery.

The Minister of Culture Simonas Kairys met with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Culture, National Heritage and Sport of Poland Piotr Gliński, who is visiting Vilnius today.

Vice-Minister of Culture Vygintas Gasparavičius and Advisor to the Minister of Culture Deimantė Zutelienė attended the conference “What‘s Next in Music“, where they presented the possibilities provided to the music sector by the European Structural Funds and participated in the discussion “EU Funding Opportunities in the Time of Change“.

In accordance with the submission of the Ministry of Culture, the Government has decided to establish the office of the cultural attaché at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Japan.

According to the recently updated World Giving Index, which shows the trends of charity and support and is published every three years by the international Charities Aid Foundation, this year Lithuania has been included among the top 100 countries that received the best evaluations.

The government has approved the agreement between the governments of the Republic of Lithuania and the Republic of Korea regarding cooperation in the fields of culture, arts, education, science, youth affairs, and sports.

A festive event in Vilnius on Thursday evening marked Lithuania’s long-term partnership with Iceland, Lichtenstein and Norway: the donor countries under the EEA’s and Norway’s Financial Mechanism.
