On 7-8 October, events of the project “Cultural Routes for Development of Regions” will be held in Kaunas: a conference dedicated to discussions of the potential of cultural routes with their operators and cultural heritage specialists and a practical seminar on the development of cultural routes.

Matters concerning cultural cooperation between Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia were discussed today in Riga, where the annual meeting of the Baltic Cultural Committee was held. Participants included the Vice-Minister of Culture Gintautė Žemaitytė.

The architectural idea of the new symbol of Vilnius on the Tauras Hill was finally presented – out of all the ideas for the National Concert Hall offered by nearly 250 architects from around the world, the idea of the Spanish team “Arquivio Architects” was announced the winner of the competition.

The Executive Director of YIVO Institute for Jewish Research in New York, Mr. Jonathan Brent, who met the Minister of Culture today, Mr. Mindaugas Kvietkauskas, informed the Minister that the absolute majority of the Institute’s Council approved Lithuanian application to exhibit the valuable document.

The 2nd International Forum of Modernism Cities “From Modern to Modern: 20th Century Architectural Heritage Practices Based on the Tel Aviv Document for Modernist Cities” is held in Kaunas and Vilnius on the 12th-13th of September.

The Government approved the plan of the year of the Vilna Gaon and the History of the Jews of Lithuania for 2020, where the means for commemoration of Jewish culture and history are provided.

The Minister of Culture, Mr. Mindaugas Kvietkauskas continued his work visit in Germany and met Mrs. Ayser Asar, State Secretary of the Hessian Ministry of Higher Education, Research and the Arts, in Frankfurt.

Lithuania and German land of Bavaria are going to prepare a programme of cultural cooperation that should strengthen relations between Lithuanian and Bavarian cultural and artistic organizations, creators and artists.
