On 5–7 September, Chancellor of the Ministry of Culture Laimonas Ubavičius participated in the meeting of the Lithuania-Georgia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation and discussed the issues of cooperation in the field of culture.

Lithuanian and Georgian representatives negotiated further cooperation on the expert level concerning the plans of implementation of twinning projects. The participants of the meeting agreed on the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the fields of culture and creative industries, aiming at a more active bilateral cooperation of professional artists and performers, their participation in festivals, conferences, seminars and other bilateral cultural projects.

Mr. Ubavičius invited the representatives of Georgian culture and art to take the opportunity to actively participate in the programme “Visiting international art experts in Lithuania” administered by the Lithuanian Culture Institute.

Having considered the needs expressed by various cultural sectors of both countries, the parties agreed to draw up the Programme of Cooperation between the Lithuanian and Georgian Ministries of Culture 2017–2019.

The agreement of the parties concerning cooperation in the field of culture has been included in the Minutes of the Commission, signed by Evaldas Gustas, Minister of Economy of the Republic of Lithuania, and Dimitry Kumsishvili, Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia.
