The Minister of Culture met the Chinese ambassador

Today, on 17 October, Minister of Culture Liana Ruokytė-Jonsson met Chinese ambassador Wei Ruixing.

During the meeting both officials expressed happiness due to dynamic development in recent years of the relationship between the cultural and art institutions, organisations and their networks, experts, individual artists and creative youth of both countries. As an especially significant event for Lithuanian culture in China the Minister mentioned the National Art Gallery exhibition ‘Lithuanian fine arts. Contemplation through landscape’ in the Chinese National Art Museum.

In the meeting the Minister noted that the foundation of the relationship of both countries is personal relations between people. She was certain that the declaration and action plan 2018–2019 signed by 17 Central and Eastern European and Chinese the ministers of culture in September this year will become a new impetus for cooperation on bilateral and multilateral levels in various cultural and artistic fields. The officials also exchanged opinions on the issue of visas without stamp duty for people travelling for cultural and educational purposes, in order to facilitate bilateral exchange.

At the end of the meeting, the Minister notified ambassador Wei Ruixing that Chinese Minister of Culture Luo Shugang is invited for a visit to Lithuania next year to participate in the Song festival events in the celebration of 100 years of the Lithuanian state.
