On Thursday, Minister of Culture Liana Ruokytė-Jonsson met with the newly appointed Lithuanian Culture Attaché in France, Austė Zdančiūtė, and wished her to discover as many new connections in all the areas of Lithuanian-French cultural co-operation as possible.

‘France is very important for Lithuanian culture, and our artists and creators are interesting for France. I hope that your experience and energy will help to continue the long-term relationships and discover new opportunities for cooperation between artists from Lithuania and France, between art management professionals, art and cultural centres and institutions of both countries. This is important for the visual, stage and interdisciplinary arts, music, cinema, literature and all other cultural and artistic fields’, said the Minister of Culture.

At the meeting, it was agreed that the Lithuania-France Strategic Partnership Action Plan (2016–2019) updated at the beginning of this year opens up favourable possibilities for cooperation between the two countries in the field of culture. It provides for the development of cultural co-operation projects for professionals, the exchange of teachers, creators and art works among the higher schools of art, as well as the promotion of mobility, including presentations at festivals and fairs. Important strategic instruments for promoting co-operation are the programmes of expert visits and translation promotion which are administered by the Lithuanian Institute of Culture, as well as the corporate income tax relief for filmmaking in Lithuania.

Austė Zdančiūtė has received a Master's Degree in Cultural Management and Cultural Policy at the Vilnius Academy of Fine Arts, has completed a Bachelor's degree in Communication and Information at Vilnius University, as well as a Professional Bachelor's degree in publishing at the Rene Descartes University in Paris. Austė Zdančiūtė has worked with cinema projects for many years, and recently she has been the project manager and coordinator of Public Enterprise ‘Meno avilys’ as well as the programme coordinator of the Human Rights Film Festival ‘Inconvenient Films’.

Austė Zdančiūtė will assume the position of Lithuanian Culture Attaché in France on August 27.
