Minister of Culture Awarded the Winner of Baltic Book Art Competition

The Minister of Culture Mindaugas Kvietkauskas has awarded Kęstutis Pikūnas, the artist and compiler of the book Jonas ir Adolfas Mekai: Gyvenimo lai(š)kai and the winner of the Baltic Book Art Competition. The book has been published by "Post scriptum. Littera" and printed by "Petro ofsetas".

This year, the Baltic Book Art Competition took place in Riga and featured books awarded at the National Awards 2019. The most beautiful Lithuanian book was elected by the commission consisting of the representatives from Latvia and Estonia. Meanwhile, the representatives from Lithuania and Estonia have evaluated the most beautiful book of Latvia, whereas the most beautiful book of Estonia was elected by Lithuanian and Latvian representatives.

The book Avangards, meilārts, jaunais kreisums un kultūras aukstā kara laikā by Valdis Abolins (Valdis Aboliņš) has been acknowledged as the most beautiful book of Latvia, while the book Minu Trükikoda by Karl Kabanov has been elected as the most beautiful book of Estonia.

Mr. Pikūnas has also been awarded in Vilnius Book Fair this year. The author has received a prize in the Book Art Competition organized by the Ministry of Culture each year in the category of artistic and documentary photography for especially light and multi-layered pictorial narrative in his book Jonas ir Adolfas Mekai: Gyvenimo lai(š)kai.
