Meeting with the experts from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) was held at the Ministry of Culture.

The purpose of the visit was to get acquainted with the protection of intellectual property rights in Lithuania. The information obtained during the meeting will be used for preparation of the future Lithuanian Intellectual Property Rights Strategy.

During the meeting, the leaders of the Ministry of Culture presented the upcoming structural changes of the Ministry and discussed the possibilities of strengthening the field of copyright, emphasizing the education of children and young people and promoting the creative processes of intellectual property in Lithuania.

‘The Ministry of Culture is open to all suggestions of the experts and for cooperation’, said the Deputy Minister for Culture Gytis Andrulionis.

In order to ensure the full involvement of Lithuania, copyright specialists from the Ministry of Culture have participated in the 12th session of the Advisory Committee of WIPO for the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights which took place early September.

During the Committee session the possibility of organizing a roundtable discussion in the presence of the representatives of the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center in December of the current year in Lithuania was discussed. The discussion aims at discussing the development of an alternative dispute resolution process in the area of copyright protection.
